Pain
Pain is one of the most common reasons people consult a physician, yet frequently it is inadequately assessed and under treated, resulting in unnecessary suffering, lost productivity, and excessive healthcare expenditures.
Chronic pain afflicts approximately 10-20% of the adult population. Much of that pain can be relieved with proper treatment.
Forms of chronic pain include:
- Neuropathic pain (diabetic neuropathy, post-herpetic neuralgia, post mastectomy pain, phantom limb pain, and reflex sympathetic dystrophy [RSD or Complex Regional Pain Syndrome])
- Musculoskeletal (back, knee, hip) pain
- Fibromyalgia
- Migraine
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Osteoarthritis
- Cancer pain
Our compounding pharmacists (in concert with your physician), have the ability to identify multiple agents with alternate actions to increase pain control and decrease adverse side effects and reactions such as inability to swallow, drowsiness, dizziness, upset stomach, and more. Through traditional medications, many conditions cannot be targeted directly with traditional treatments. The majority of compounding allows your practitioner and our pharmacists to work as a team for the best treatment, route of administration, and specific drug components for your individual needs.
We have a variety of dosage forms available including:
- Penetrating Enhancing Transdermal Gels and Creams (Pluronic Lecithin Organogel or PLO Gel/Salt Stable cream or liposomal gel)
- Oral or sublingual formulations
- Nasal Sprays
- Rectal Preparation
- Iontophoresis solutions
- Ultrasound Gel
Our goal is to provide individualized and compassionate care to each of our patients. Please contact us with any of your pain concerns!
