Some insurance companies do cover the cost of the test. You will need to call your insurance company to find out specifically what your cost is based on your coverage. The cost of the test ranges from $150 – $240. Please call the pharmacy with any questions that you may have
Typically, it takes 2 ½ – 3 weeks for the results to come to us from an independent laboratory. We then contact you to find out what practitioner you are working with. Some practitioners prefer our pharmacist to make recommendations, which is then done within 4 days. Next, your practitioner has to endorse the recommendations, which may take up to one week. Some patients may have an appointment with their practitioner to review their test results, or we can work as a liaison between you and your healthcare provider. You may also request a copy of your results at any time.
You may be surprised, but compounded medications usually cost less than the patient anticipates! Obviously, different drugs have varying prices, but the range is usually $28 to $55, without insurance! Since we compound (make) the medication in-house we have more control over the expenses, and can usually provide great value to our customers. We would be happy to give you a price quote before we make anything for you.
Yes, we accept most insurance plans. If we do not accept your insurance, we can walk you through how to submit your own claim, to be eligible for re-imbursement.
Compounding pharmacies are regulated rigorously by the State Board of Pharmacy in each state.
Preparation of these custom medications requires chemicals and specialized equipment not available in most pharmacies. Essential Wellness pharmacists have also received additional training in compounding techniques.
Most retail, chain pharmacies are non-compounding pharmacies. They do not make their own medications, but rather are supplied by large drug companies. We specialize in medication that is not commercially available, specialty dosing, bio-identical hormone replacement, hospice care, veterinarian and pediatric medication and pain management.
There are a limited number of independent pharmacies that still prepare compounded medications, in addition to offering the same non-compounded and over-the-counter drugs that patients can obtain from regular pharmacies. Because the medications that compounding pharmacies prepare are not able to be patented, most consumers may not have even been aware of the option of a compounded medication!
Some may not have noticed the resurgence of pharmaceutical compounding in recent years. However, prescription compounding is a rapidly growing component of many physicians’ practices. Ask your physician about compounding and get in touch with Essential Wellness Pharmacy to find out what can be done to meet your prescription needs.
